The Woodland Trust is looking for a Supply Chain Lead who will play a critical role in supporting nationwide tree planting by managing end-to-end supply chain operations and contributing to the successful delivery of the Trust’s planTREES strategy.

The Role

  • Lead the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to align tree supply with demand forecasts and budgets.
  • Coordinate procurement, logistics, and regional fulfilment of trees and materials across multiple programmes and geographies.
  • Analyse supply and demand data to inform sourcing strategies and ensure timely, cost-effective distribution.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external suppliers to maintain strong relationships and efficient delivery.
  • Monitor stock, track budgets, and provide performance data for senior leadership, ensuring zero-stock by season end.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, manage risk registers, and support the delivery of core contracts and funding obligations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in systems and processes to raise service levels, reduce costs, and improve supply chain efficiency.
  • This is an 18-month fixed term contract.
  • This role includes a mix of working from home and at our main office in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Visits to Grantham would be required no more than once a month on average.

The Candidate

We're looking for a proactive and collaborative individual with:

  • Proven experience in supply chain coordination, procurement, or operations planning, ideally within environmental or forestry-related sectors.
  • Strong analytical skills and confidence working with large datasets, particularly using Excel.
  • A good understanding of S&OP processes, contract management, and plant-based inventory or tree supply dynamics.
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally to supplier sites, logistics hubs, and team meetings.
