Conservation & Wildlife

Are you passionate about conservation, but can’t find the opportunity to help? Do you want to make a difference but feel you lack some of the key skills to get involved? This could be your chance to gain the skills and experience you need to start working in the conservation sector, whilst helping to maintain our wonderful reserves.

In Devon, over 50% of species are in decline, and half of wildlife lost since 1970. Devon Wildlife Trust is working to change this, and you could help.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a reserves team volunteer to join the Nature Reserves Team at Woodah Farm. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop conservation skills, as you will receive accommodation and training to enable you to help manage DWT’s nature reserves to a high standard. Training includes formal training course such as a chainsaw licence, and informal training in things like leading a volunteer work party and working with the public.

Full details and how to apply are on our website. If you need this in a different format, you are also welcome to telephone Dawn Lenn, Volunteers Officer on 01392 260833 to talk through the role.

We are committed to making conservation open to everyone, therefore if you are disabled and meet the minimum criteria for the role, we guarantee to interview you.

About Devon Wildlife Trust

We have lost incredible amounts of our wildlife. Species which once thrived in Devon have gone; many others which were commonplace are now rare. We need urgent change. It is time to put nature into recovery. We need to restore what has been lost and we need to do this on a grand scale. This means being bold: restoring degraded landscapes and seas, recreating wildlife habitat, reintroducing key species that have become locally extinct and properly protecting what we still have. Everyone can play a role in nature's recovery and this is where our work starts - shoulder to shoulder with all who love Devon and its wildlife.
