Volunteer Visitor Surveyor
Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust (BBOWT)
The purpose of the role is to conduct visitor surveys as part of the Reconnecting Bernwood, Otmoor and the Ray (RBOR) project, to help understand the pressures facing greenspaces and public rights of way and inform access improvement works.
You will be conducting face-to-face surveys by asking members of the public a set of pre-written questions. This will involve positioning yourself at the entrance of nature reserves and greenspaces and/or along public rights of way on private land and engaging with people as they pass by. Survey responses must be uploaded online. You will be expected to carry out the surveys independently, unless you choose to bring a friend or relative to assist you.
Various locations, including: Rushbeds Wood; CS Lewis Nature Reserve; Whitecross Green Wood; Sydlings Copse.
We welcome volunteers of all abilities, and this role may involve moving across mixed terrain. Please let us know about any access needs when you apply so that we can match you to easily accessible reserves and green spaces.
Surveys must be conducted between 23rd July and 2nd September, during the hours of 7:00–9:00 AM and 5:30–7:30 PM on weekdays, with varied time slots available on weekends. Each volunteer is expected to complete 6-10 surveys over this period. If you cannot commit to this number of surveys or the specific time slots but are still interested in being involved, please apply and we can discuss with you.
