Food, Farming & HorticultureEnvironmental Education

Surrey Docks Farm is a community farm in the heart of London. We provide our visitors with unique opportunities to learn about farming, food production and become actively involved in the life of a working farm.

We deliver a range of weekly training projects for adult students with learning disabilities including gardening, animal care or cooking/crafts.

Support Volunteers provide one-to-one support to help develop our adult student’s skills and enjoyment. Volunteers enable our students to engage as fully as possible with sessions and have fun!

Existing experience in one of the project areas (gardening, animal care or cooking/crafts) is useful, but FAR more important is a person who is enthusiastic, patient and supportive to our students and understands the focus of the project.

We look for volunteers who can commit regularly for a minimum of three months – our adult students take time to get to know volunteers, work closely with them and rely on their regular support.

In return you will enjoy a fun and fulfilling role and the Farm will support you with training (such as basic sign language skills etc) where it can.

If you are interested in this role and can commit to attending regularly on Wednesdays or Thursdays from 10am – 3pm we’d love to hear from you.
