The Volunteer Trainee Reserves Officer (VTRO) will work with the Western Reserves Team, and the wider Conservation Team, to contribute to the management of the Trust’s nature reserve estate, particularly focusing on the 23 reserves to the west of the two counties. Starting in late August/September 2025, the placement will run for 12 months, with a minimum commitment of 6 months, working variable hours (though typically 8am-4pm) over 5 days per week and based at our main office near Leicester City Centre.

This is an unsalaried, volunteer training placement for which the Trust will provide £428 per month contribution towards living costs, as well as a training allowance and appropriate personal protective equipment. Those needing to acquire their own accommodation in order to undertake the role will also be eligible for a £300 per month additional supplement.

About Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust

Founded in 1956, Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust is the leading wildlife conservation charity working to protect and enhance the wildlife and wild places of Leicestershire and Rutland, and enable nature's recovery locally. We believe Leicestershire and Rutland should be rich in wildlife for the benefit of everyone - with more wildlife, more wild places and more people having a strong connection to nature. We are part of a grassroots movement made up of 46 individual Wildlife Trusts who all believe that we need nature and nature needs us.
