We are looking for an Immersive Volunteer to join an energetic & innovative team at Box Hill. The site is home to some rare habitats and an experienced and enthusiastic team of volunteers & rangers. This opportunity is available from Aug 2025 – Jun 2026.

  • Supporting estate management involving countryside maintenance tasks - grass cutting, litter picking, maintenance of estate furniture such as gates, stiles, fences.
  • Supporting habitat management of Box Hill's chalk grassland and ancient woodland - scrub cutting, coppicing, dead hedging, monitoring grass sword, cattle grazing.
  • Motivating groups of volunteers, ensuring compliance with National Trust health and safety policies / guidelines.
  • Interacting with public to answer queries, provide information about the property ensuring high standards of customer care.
  • Engaging with visitors to teach them about Box Hill in a creative, imaginative way.
  • Opportunities to take on other duties/projects that may be available or linked with personal interests / development.
  • Undertaking biological surveys to monitor flora /fauna.
  • Volunteer up to 30 hours a week over no more than 12 months. Accommodation may be available.

  • Volunteer in the great outdoors whilst gaining valuable experience as a Volunteer Ranger.
  • Improve your communication and organisational skills alongside the development of practical countryside management skills.
