Residential Volunteer, Visitor Experience - Frampton Marsh
RSPB
Commitment: 3-12 months (must include July and August)
Why We Want You
The Lincolnshire reserves of Frampton Marsh is fast becoming one of the best loved of all RSPB nature reserves. With a stunning array of wildlife offering close-up views, a reputation for helpful staff and an impressive record of rare species, this reserve has been making waves. It won the Birders Choice Award for 'Best Site' in both 2016 and 2018. It is popular with local families too, with an extensive events programme in the school holidays. Set against the stunning backdrop of The Wash, the reserve is prime destinations for birders, nature lovers and families.
We are looking for a residential volunteer to help us deliver the first class visitor experience that the Lincolnshire reserve is famous for. As a visitor engagement volunteer you will be instrumental in liaising with our visitors, delivering the events programme and assisting with promotional work through social media and other means.
If you want to spend your day with people who are passionate about nature and conservation, who are excited to share their knowledge and enthusiasm with others and who love their work then Frampton Marsh is the place for you!
We are a dynamic, forward thinking and customer based team which offers visitors a friendly welcome, a wealth of knowledge and an overall amazing experience which brings them back year after year. We are committed to protecting our wildlife and environments through innovative projects and proactive management of our diverse habitats. If you can engage with people, share our vision and inspire them to support our campaigns then we want to hear from you.
What’s In It For You
This is an ideal opportunity for anyone wanting to pursue a career or interest in visitor engagement, hospitality or tourism. You will gain practical experience in supporting a range of activities both on and off site, learn how to market and promote a leading tourist attraction, look after aspects of our quality assurance and take a lead role in managing our social media sites.
Our staff and volunteers will offer you the support and training you need to have a worthwhile and productive experience. Development of skills, proficiencies and aptitudes are all on your agenda as you work with our knowledgeable and enthusiastic team.
In addition, you will benefit from free accommodation in our grade II listed Georgian farmhouse just a short walk from the reserve.
Requirements
Are you methodical, innovative and able to communicate with people at all levels? Can you work alone without supervision, plan ahead and be flexible in your work experience? (our volunteering week usually runs from Monday to Friday but you may be asked to help out on occasional weekends, early mornings or evenings).
You must be over 18 years old, confident using a computer and have strong social media skills (some administrative experience would be a bonus). You will need to be a team player who is willing to turn their hand to any one of a number of tasks, come rain or shine. A full clean driving licence is highly desirable.
If you are excited to work with us and share our commitment to save nature, you could be the person we are looking for!

Appropriate training will be provided and expenses will be re-imbursed where necessary.
About RSPB
The RSPB is a charity for the conservation of birds and nature. We bring people together who love birds and other wildlife, and who want to take action to restore the health and diversity of the natural world. We carry out conservation on a large scale, protect and restore habitats, and save species from extinction. We’re living in a nature and climate emergency, and we won’t stop whilst the threats persist.
We believe our work makes a real difference to the world we live in. It takes a great team to
save nature and we need a wide range of skills to make it happen.
As an RSPB employee, you will be helping to save nature every time you come to work. There’s never been a more important time to protect our wildlife and wild places, so we want to make sure you feel rewarded for everything you help us to achieve.
