Senior Nature Finance Expert (Consultant)
Global Canopy
Description
Global Canopy is a data-driven not for profit that targets the market forces destroying nature. We do this by improving transparency and accountability. Our focus is on open data, aligned metrics and strong regulation, to help powerful organisations stop nature-related impacts and realise opportunities for positive action.
Purpose
Global Canopy, often working with a close network of partners, has a number of projects that explore complex issues at the interface between nature and finance. We are seeking to build our capacity to support our cross-organisational team with technical and communication skills to deliver technically ambitious, sound and impactful projects.
This short-term consultant will bring additional technical capacity to Global Canopy’s support in the delivery of an ambitious new report/book on investing in nature. The 250+ page report supports the global transition toward a nature-positive economy, providing opportunities for investment that go far beyond investors’ current focus on regenerative agriculture and reforestation.
For this, Global Canopy is seeking a senior nature finance expert. We are seeking someone who can contribute with technical expertise on nature finance and bring strong attention to detail, quality assurance, and editorial and written communication skills to the organisation.
The purpose of the review is to ensure the book aligns with Global Canopy’s editorial guidelines and processes and, where needed, conduct additional research to complement as necessary. While this is a technical review role, we note of course that clear, concise and compelling communication is central to engaging our target audiences - particularly those in business and finance, and we are seeking someone who can bring written communication skills - to deliver the greatest impact with our audience. A copy editor has been employed to carry out copy editing work. This means style editing will not be necessary.
