Salary: £27,427 per annum/pro rata
Core Hours: 21 hours per week. We are flexible in terms of days and hours worked. Occasional weekend or evening work may be necessary.
Position Type: Part time, 2.5 years fixed
Annual Leave: 25 days plus bank holidays, per annum/pro rata
Pension: Government NEST scheme, 3% employer / 5% employee contribution
Location: Based at The Environment Centre, Pier Street, Swansea, SA1 1RY

The BIG Climate Leap (BCL) project works with community groups to help them respond effectively to the challenge of climate change and the need to reduce carbon emissions. We aim to demonstrate that it is possible to deliver year-on-year reductions in carbon footprints and galvanise the wider community to get on board with a sustainable vision for Swansea.
We’re looking for a motivated Project Coordinator to organise, get stuck in with, and be the first point of contact in a busy team that develops and delivers training, undertakes environmental assessments and audits, and provides wide-ranging support for groups to take climate action. You’ll build relationships with groups and networks, reporting on the learning and experience gained. This role is ideal for someone with a strong environmental ethos, understands the intricacies of working with community groups, is a problem solver and experienced in balancing multiple priorities.
As Project Coordinator, you will be expected to:
- Ensure the smooth running of project, undertaking day-to-day project tasks, arranging and documenting meetings, events and activities, and helping to prioritise the team workload
- Maintain our project management system and keep our paperwork up to date and organised
- Develop and deliver an action plan for reaching and engaging community groups
- Sign up suitable groups to the BCL project, following the onboarding process
- Be the main liaison with groups, building rapport and support them in meeting their aims
- Where appropriate, get involved with delivering workshops, presentations and undertaking environmental assessments
- Lead on the management and use of data collected for the monitoring, evaluation and learning associated with this project
- Oversee promotions and communications for the project, including gathering and writing content
- Ensure project databases and distribution lists remain updated
- Identify and/or develop the resources needed to deliver the project
- Provide line management to the Project Officers and project volunteers, including support for personal development and training needs
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- 3 years’ experience of working in a Coordinating role
- Experience of environmental or sustainability focused project(s)
- Approachable, engaging and positive attitude towards inspiring change making at a community level
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work with others as part of a busy team, and have an adaptable, flexible and enthusiastic approach to changing circumstances
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to use own initiative and work with minimum supervision
- Ability to multi-task, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
- Good level of Microsoft Office, with experience of SharePoint and Teams, Word, Excel spreadsheets and Outlook
