Conservation & Wildlife

Borders Forest Trust (BFT) is a woodland conservation charity, with the aim of restoring the ecological balance of the South of Scotland, by bringing native woodlands and their associated natural habitats back to the area.

The new part-time (3 days per week 0.6 FTE) post of BFT’s Communications and Membership Officer provides a rewarding and varied range of challenges.

The role will predominantly involve indoor work, requiring someone with a mix of skills - especially exceptional organisational, and interpersonal skills; since the post will play a key role in raising awareness about Borders Forest Trust and engaging people in our mission of ecological restoration across the Southern Uplands, as well as community engagement across the Borders and beyond.

This role involves managing BFT’s digital presence, developing engaging content, and coordinating communications strategies to reach as many people as possible and inspire donations, membership, as well as volunteer support.

The role also includes support of the membership function of the organisation, the management of our CRM database (Donorfy) and close working with the Finance Manager and Development Manager to ensure a high quality member experience on behalf of BFT.

About Borders Forest Trust

Borders Forest Trust is a charity established to restore native woodland habitats to Southern Scotland, an area with the lowest percentage of native woodlands in mainland Scotland. Since 1996, we have been working towards planting trees, restoring peatlands and other natural habitats, enriching the biological diversity of around 31 sq km in the Southern Uplands.
