About the Role

The overarching role of the Director of Nature Recovery is to lead the Trust’s efforts to drive nature recovery across Hertfordshire and Middlesex. They oversee the strategic development and delivery of our work on habitat restoration and creation, species recovery and nature-based solutions. This includes leading the Nature Recovery Team which covers the management of the Trust’s 42 nature reserves, land management advice in the wider landscape (including our established Living Rivers Programme and our in-house consultancy), input to the local planning agenda and the Herts Environmental Records Centre.

The Director of Nature Recovery plays an important role in positioning the Trust as the leading conservation organisation in Herts & Middlesex through advocacy and partnerships. 

Working in partnership with third parties including farmers, corporate businesses, local authorities and community groups is essential to achieving our aims. 

The Director is a member of the Trust’s Senior Management Team and plays a leading role in the overall direction and management of the Trust. They lead the Trust’s Nature Recovery Advisory Group and support the Chief Executive in reporting to and advising our Board of Trustees. 

The post holder must support and develop a positive team culture. They are expected to uphold the Trust’s values and expected behaviours at all times and to act as a positive role model for staff, volunteers and external stakeholders through a professional, collaborative and engaging approach.
