The role

The Chartered Institute for Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) is looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced project manager who is passionate about climate action. The role will be responsible to deliver a three-year National Lottery funded ‘Green Library Hubs’ project and partnership designed to create 10 Green Library Hubs across UK as physical central points for climate literacy and community action.

The project offers an excellent opportunity to lead on the delivery of a large-scale project in partnership with leading sector organisations, supporting libraries to use their power and reach to inform and inspire people, build resilience in their diverse communities and embed climate action into the everyday lives of their users.

As part of the Research and Development Team, your work will focus on managing the lifecycle of the National Lottery funded Green Library Hubs project. Represent the project and CILIP at internal and external meetings and sector events. Contribute to Research and Development Team shared project objectives when required and as directed by your line manager. Contribute to the overall purpose of the Research and Development Team, identify areas of collaboration, and support the team’s work in standardising project management tools and resources.

This position, within the Research and Development team, reports to the Research and Development Director.

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least 12 months proven experience in managing projects with budgets exceeding the value of £250K annually
  • Experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning including reporting impact to funders/stakeholders
  • Experience of leading projects with multiple partnerships and building excellent working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management skills to deliver the project on time, within budget and within scope including budget management, milestone setting, risk mitigation and workflows for projects.
  • Demonstrable capacity to manage stakeholder relationships across different levels within the organisation, with the funder, and the project partners.
