The Role

The Investment Executive Internship is a temporary full-time role from late July 2025 to November 2025 during which you will work 37.5 hours per week. You will work from home, we all do - we do not have an office, though we do on occasions “hot desk” and meet up in person in London.

You will be reporting to one of our Senior Investment Executives and working together as a team to support our Investment Principal to ensure that all tasks and responsibilities associated with the role and Deal Team are completed in line with timescales and requirements.

The role will involve occasional travel across the UK for attending conferences, events and visiting potential investee companies. We see this as around once every two months, though it can be at times a little more, depending on engagement and events.

The salary for this role is £24,570 pro rata.

What you will be doing

1) Deal sourcing and deal origination

Sourcing, investigating and screening new potential companies in which we may invest, by:

  • attending conferences, events and expos
  • searching through our opportunities databases, and
  • via recommendations from co-investors and our members network
  • You will have the authority to progress and terminate deals in the early stages, seeking support from the team when needed

2) Fundamental Due Diligence

Holding in-person and remote meetings with companies to build a full picture of the risks and opportunities associated with potential investment in the company. This will involve:

  • Supporting all stages of the investment process and providing regular communication updates
  • Setting up and managing data rooms for each investment opportunity
  • Collating questions from members and due diligence team, and getting answers from investee companies
  • Researching, gathering and analysing data to verify information provided by companies to support the decision making process
  • Coordinating the due diligence process across members, GAV team and investee companies

4) Contracts, Negotiation & Valuation

  • Researching and analysing deals to assist Senior Investment Executives and Investment Principal with deal negotiations and valuation calculations
  • Engaging with and providing updates with syndicate members on the progress of deals
  • Facilitating the investment closing process, including chasing signatures for key legal documentation, and payments
  • Preparing and providing investor information and certificates post completion

5) Engagement & Reporting

  • Reviewing our current processes and making improvements where appropriate, to support continuous improvement
  • Attending and assisting with Pitch Events
  • Updating our member database with member engagement information, such as skills, areas of expertise, working background
  • Attending and representing GAV at external conferences and expos
  • Contributing to and preparing reports, KPIs and updates to the deal team
  • Liaising with and engaging with wider colleagues within GAV colleagues on the progress of deals

What we are looking for from you

  • You will have knowledge and an interest in sustainability and fighting climate change. This is a key requirement to join us here at GAV as you’ll play an active part in our organisation, and in our plans for the future
  • Previous experience or qualification in a related field (such as finance, science, economics or engineering) is advantageous but not essential
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly with MS Excel or Google Sheets
  • Ability to use data analysis for exploration and to support financial modelling
  • Proven commitment and ability to consistently deliver a high standard of work
  • A can-do approach, results driven and competent in working independently at home
  • A proactive outlook to plan and balance the busy and slightly quieter times
  • Someone who is highly organised and can successfully plan and deliver work and deadlines for self, team, wider colleagues and the business
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail when collating and inputting information and data
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and numerical) to engage, share and collaborate with colleagues, particularly on updates within the deal team
  • Great at building rapport with a variety of stakeholders to build good working relationships
  • Comfortable in raising concerns or making the right decisions to keep things on track for both client and business integrity
  • A continuous improvement mindset, applying a common sense approach to problem solving with the ability to make changes for the better

Location

All GAV team members work from home - we have no office. Some of our team who are based around London meet up for in-person working fortnightly, and we get all staff together twice a year for a couple of days. This role is mostly working from home, with occasional travel to locations in the UK. Many of our industry or member events are London-based, and it would be an advantage if you lived within an hour of London.
