Team Wilder Engagement Officer x2
Surrey Wildlife Trust
Team Wilder Engagement Officer (two roles available)
£25,000 to £29,000 pa, dependent on experience
Based at Nower Wood, near Leatherhead
Are you passionate about nature, sharing knowledge and empowering others to take action?
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team working with schools and communities across Surrey. Surrey Wildlife Trust’s vision is to create a county that is full of abundant and diverse wildlife; helping us adapt to a changing climate and supporting the health and wellbeing of all who live here.
Our Team Wilder project aims to reach a wide and diverse audience, empowering people to create a natural environment that is more connected and more joined-up across Surrey. If you enjoy variety then this is a job for you! We work in schools and on our reserves delivering sessions and training, we support teachers to develop their confidence and skills in outdoor learning; and we motivate and assist the school community to improve the biodiversity of their school grounds and community spaces.
We need knowledgeable and enthusiastic individuals who from the outset will be working independently on projects in schools but will also work as part of a team to regularly deliver family events and both formal and informal education. One of the posts will be coordinating our youth action committee helping to engage young people across Surrey. As such, the successful candidate will need to have a good understanding of online engagement and social media as well as being experienced in outdoor learning. To fulfil the other post we are looking for experience in aspects of practical habitat management as well as engagement work.
The successful candidates will need to have experience working outdoors with young people, in formal education and informal settings and a full, clean driving licence as they will be expected to travel between our education centre at Nower Wood in Leatherhead and our project schools across the county. As we also engage with families, you must also be prepared to work occasional weekends and evenings.
We are committed to having an inclusive and diverse workplace and encourage applications from backgrounds which may be underrepresented in our sector, including people from minority ethnic backgrounds and people with disabilities.
We are committed to offering an interview to all candidates that meet the primary criteria for the post. Please let us know if you require any adjustment to make our recruitment process more accessible.
The deadline for applications is midday Thursday 17th July 2025.
Interviews will be held in person at Nower Wood, Leatherhead on 24th and 25th July.
