Join Foster + Partners – Where World-Class Design Meets Planet-First Innovation

At Foster + Partners, we don’t just design buildings — we shape the future. As one of the world’s most innovative and influential architecture and integrated design studios, our work spans continents and disciplines, impacting everything from iconic buildings and city masterplans to sustainable infrastructure and industrial design. Our studio thrives on pushing boundaries — and we’re looking for like-minded specialists to help drive the transition to a low-carbon, circular built environment.

We are seeking a passionate and technically skilled Sustainability Specialist to join our Sustainability + Environmental Design team. This is a unique opportunity to work on globally significant projects, alongside some of the most talented professionals in architecture, engineering, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or support whole-life carbon assessments on high-profile international projects.
  • Integrate circular economy principles and materials reuse strategies from early concept through to end-of-life.
  • Use advanced tools and workflows including OneClick LCA, BIM, and parametric modelling to drive sustainable material choices.
  • Translate complex carbon and circularity data into clear visual communications and practical design guidance.
  • Work collaboratively across disciplines within a fully integrated design studio environment.
  • Contribute to the development of internal digital tools and sustainability strategies.
  • For senior candidates: mentor team members, facilitate client workshops, and represent sustainability at key project stages.

About You

  • Professional background in architecture, engineering, or environmental design.
  • 3–7+ years of experience working on embodied carbon, LCA, and circular design within the built environment.
  • Proficient with tools and standards such as EN 15978, RICS NRM, ISO 14040, LETI benchmarks, and GLA WLC guidance.
  • Skilled in OneClick LCA or similar tools (e.g. SimaPro, Tally) and confident using Revit/BIM workflows.
  • Strong communicator, both visually and verbally, with the ability to influence and collaborate across design teams.
  • A deep commitment to advancing sustainable design and making real-world impact through your work.

Why Foster + Partners?

  • Work on some of the most ambitious and innovative design projects in the world.
  • Join a globally respected studio with a strong commitment to sustainability and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Learn from and collaborate with leading experts across architecture, structural engineering, environmental analysis, and digital design.
  • Benefit from extensive in-house training, mentoring, and career development opportunities.
  • Enjoy a vibrant studio culture, industry-leading benefits, and a stunning riverside workspace in London.
