Contract Type: Permanent

Embark on an exciting career and help the UK's largest Wildlife Trust Consultancy to protect our natural environment and support nature's recovery.
In the past three years, we have evolved from a traditional ecological consultancy to a more diverse, vibrant natural environment consultancy with biodiversity at our heart. To achieve that, we developed new services, remodelled the leadership of the organisation and brought in deep domain experts and thought leaders in many of the disciplines that are so essential to making a positive difference.
We now find ourselves at an exciting point in the company’s history, having adopted a three-year Strategic Development Plan that combines ambitious plans for growth with a firm commitment to deliver the best outcomes for nature and be a great place to work. To help deliver our strategy, we’re looking for a Team Leader to support the growth of our Wales and West regional team.
Middlemarch celebrates diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and is committed to providing fair and equal access to opportunities for all candidates.
The Role
To lead the West and Wales technical team and support the delivery of the Strategic Development Plan (SDP). The role requires you to be a decision-maker, working closely with the senior management team to support the growth and development of the company and its people.
Core responsibilities include people management and development, resource allocation, client and project management, developing/delivering budgets and quality assurance. The Team Leader will support business development activities and ensure that the portfolio of projects for the Wales and West region expands, whilst continues to be delivered effectively and to a high standard.
The role is expected to adhere to a culture of continuous improvement, and to actively support the mission and vision of Middlemarch and our parent charity, Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, by demonstrating positive values and behaviours.
Skills and Experience
A background in ecology is desirable, but not essential. The most important skill for this role is the ability to successfully manage and grow a team, ensuring that colleagues who work remotely across a geographical region are motivated, engaged and feel like a part of the Middlemarch family.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in a customer-focused consultancy setting, and will be adept at designing and delivering projects from bid stage to delivery and beyond. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential as the role will involve close collaboration with colleagues, clients and other stakeholders. Report writing skills and a positive, proactive attitude to identifying and solving problems is also key.
Benefits
This role sits in the upper half of our Principal band, with a salary range of c. £45,000 to £50,000 (depending on skills and experience) and an employer's pension contribution of 7%. We anticipate that this role could develop into a Senior Management Team (SMT) role for the right candidate.
We offer an initial 24 days of holiday (plus all statutory bank holidays), increasing with service to an industry-leading 35 days at SMT level. We also offer a discretionary annual bonus scheme of up to 10% of salary (depending on company and personal performance), paid overtime and TOIL, life insurance, an employee assistance program and extensive training and development support.
As a people-focused consultancy, we will provide all the support you need to develop as an individual and grow your career.
If you need any reasonable adjustments as part of
the application or interview process, just let us know.
