We’re looking for a Deputy Visitor Services Manager to join our Visitor Services team in the South Region. You’ll be based out of one of the following offices: Gelntress, Ae or Newton Stewart Office.

The Visitor Services (VS) Team are responsible for providing a high-quality visitor experience through managing the recreational facilities and engagement with visitors, on-site business and event organisers and participants. This includes planning and managing recreation opportunities, engaging with visitors, facilitating events, facilitating education and learning, working with partners & tenants, dealing with enquiries and engaging with communities.

As Deputy Visitor Services Manager you will play a vital role managing the South Region’s Area Visitor Services Managers and oversee management of VS operations across the South of Scotland.

To be successful, you'll need experience managing recreation or visitor facilities to a high standard within the countryside, recreation, or tourism sector, alongside strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental management. You should have a background in leading teams, working with diverse stakeholders, and a working knowledge of Outdoor Access and the Land Reform (Scotland) Act. Desirable experience includes managing competing priorities, procurement and contract management, commercial activity, and partnership working with communities. You’ll also need knowledge of countryside and land management, a relevant degree or equivalent experience, strong IT skills, a full UK driving licence (or alternative), and good interpersonal skills. Experience with dispersed teams and GIS software is an advantage.
