Assistant Ranger
West Lancashire Borough Council
Why Us?
It’s time to join West Lancs as we embark on delivering our new and ambitious Vision and Priorities. With a focus on environmental sustainability, generating economic prosperity, building inclusive & healthy communities and financial resilience, we are looking for exceptional candidates to help shape our future. You will be joining an organisation that puts its customers first, takes responsibility and works together with a can-do attitude, all while challenging the status quo to deliver exceptional outcomes for our communities.
Our Parks and Countryside Service manages 16 sites across West Lancashire, operating from Beacon Country Park in Up Holland. Our team handles patrols, repairs, woodland management, site developments, and wildlife conservation. We also run a full events program, collaborate with volunteers and friends groups, develop and deliver educational sessions, apply for grant funding, manage projects, and engage with the local community to promote the wellbeing benefits of greenspaces.
Your Role
We are looking for someone to assist with routine maintenance and repairs at both Ranger Service managed sites and other greenspaces across the borough. While some tasks will be performed independently, you will also work as part of a dedicated team, supporting volunteer sessions, events, education programs, and greenspace improvement projects.
About You
If you can perform a variety of practical maintenance tasks in all weather conditions, have a background in landscape management, hold a full UK driving licence, and can interact with the public and volunteers in a friendly and professional manner, we want to hear from you.
What's in it for you?
We pride ourselves on our friendliness and being a good employer with a range of benefits and employment terms and conditions to suit you. A competitive salary and annual leave entitlement, flexible working, a generous employer pension contribution scheme, work life balance policies, and support for your personal development are just some of the benefits we offer.
If you are eager to be part of a transformative journey and make a tangible impact, West Lancashire Borough Council welcomes your application.
