The Bumblebee Conservation Trust (the Trust) is looking for an experienced and self-motivated part-time (24 hours per week) Conservation Projects Manager (Species Recovery) to aid in the delivery of our species recovery work, working towards our Strategic aim that “Our threatened bumblebees are on the road to recovery and no other bumblebees become threatened”. This position is a job-share with one other existing staff member and is a fixed term contract covering maternity leave.

Your primary role will be to:-

  • Develop and fund a Shrill carder bee focused project (SOS:Somerset) based in South Somerset.
  • Raise the profile of threatened bumblebee species, working with colleagues internally and externally on policy and advocacy, people engagement, and communications.
  • Coordination and implementation of the Shrill carder bee strategy including organising the steering group and working with partners across England and Wales (primarily South Somerset & S.Wales).

You will be an experienced conservation professional with a sound understanding of landscape scale species conservation. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience of project, people and budget management, project development, writing funding bids and managing a partnership. An understanding of the ecology and conservation of threatened bumblebees is highly desirable.

This is a part-time post for 24 hours per week. Some overtime work may be required and a flexitime system is in place.

This post will be for the purposes of maternity cover and is expected to be for 12 months on a fixed term contract until 31 July 2026. It is home based in Southern/South West England with frequent travel to Shrill carder bee sites in Somerset and potentially to South Wales.
