Assistant Project Officer Sustainability and Climate Change- Fixed term September 2025 to December 2026
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a to join our friendly and committed Sustainability and Climate Change Team for a fixed term period between September 2025 and December 2026.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to work largely on the new Built For Change programme, supporting educational settings to respond to the climate emergency. There will also be opportunities to support other projects and the overall functioning of the Climate and Sustainability Team, playing a valuable part in the council's response to the climate emergency.
Working as part of a small, supportive and open team you will have the unique opportunity to work with local schools and other education settings, councillors, council officers and partner organisations to see through all aspects of delivering the programme. This will include grant management, developing and maintaining clear and effective communication with stakeholders and organising project related special events, engagement activities and site visits.

The practicalities

The role is full-time, and council employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We recently adopted a hybrid model of working, with approximately 20% to 40% of your time based in the office. This role may include occasional work in evenings and weekends.
