Are you passionate about sustainability and skilled at bringing people together?
At Community First Yorkshire, we are launching a three-year National Lottery funded partnership programme designed to inspire and empower communities and the VCSE sector to take meaningful climate action. We are looking for Climate Action Officers to play a vital role in this exciting, collaborative initiative, shaping a greener, more sustainable future for North Yorkshire.
What you’ll be doing
In this impactful role, you will develop and deliver a dynamic programme of climate-focused activities for communities and VCSE organisations across North Yorkshire. You’ll use co-production values to engage with communities to design inclusive, impactful and innovative activities, aligned with local need. Providing advice and guidance on energy reduction and carbon-saving measures, as well organise events and workshops, will be part of the role; as well as capturing accurate data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
Throughout this role, you’ll build on existing relationships with village halls and community groups to support and empower climate action, facilitating individual participation from under-represented groups. You will support our programme partners with the delivery of their climate action activities where required and collaborate with stakeholders to inform wider service delivery.
What we’re looking for
We are seeking enthusiastic candidates with community engagement experience, particularly with under-represented and hard-to-reach groups. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop accessible, engaging resources that inspire climate action. Ideally, you’ll have a strong understanding of climate issues and have a commitment to advancing sustainability efforts.
If you’re a highly motivated team player with a proactive, problem-solving mindset, then this
role offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference. In return we can offer a
varied and engaging role that is part of a supportive and collaborative team, with flexible
working arrangements.
For an informal chat about the role, contact Victoria Russell, Projects Manager: [email protected].
Closing date for applications: 5pm on Friday 29 June
Interviews: Wednesday 16 July in person. Location to be confirmed.
