
Assistant Public Rights of Way Officer

Monmouthshire's Countryside Access Team are seeking a highly motivated individual. This is part of a job share role. The post holder will be responsible for processing public path orders; planning application consultations; maintaining records on databases and registers; providing administrative support in dealing with enquiries from the public and staff; assisting in maintenance, enforcement and other matters in relation to the countryside access network.
The role requires a mix of office work, with flexible remote working, and independent fieldwork. The role involves liaising with landowners and others to encourage goodwill and compliance with the legislation, together with following legal tests for orders, enforcement policies and legislation when required.
We are looking for someone with experience in rights of way and with effective and efficient communication and negotiation skills. In addition, the postholder will need to be able to think through and resolve difficult and contentious issues. Experience of map reading, surveying and with countryside access management system (CAMS) or similar system records is essential.
The job often involves lone working in remote areas and applicants will have to be able to negotiate rough terrain and obstacles on foot and sometimes in inclement weather. You will also need access to your own vehicle.
