The Opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Ranger/Project Manager to join our growing team at Wild Capital. The position is permanent with opportunities to grow with the company. The position will be based out of one of three locations in the UK with opportunities to travel around England to our national network of nature reserves. The role

We are looking for a Ranger/Project Manager with a strong independent work ethic with a combination of practical and desk based experience of creating and managing environmental projects. The role will initially focus on tendering for the establishment and capital works to create our new nature reserves, meeting contractors onsite and coordination of the projects. As nature reserves mature the role will change to also include co-ordinating management and monitoring with opportunities to expand into more senior roles with experience.

Duties will include –

  • Reviewing Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans (HMMPs) from a practical perspective
  • Tendering for establishment works and keeping track of phased and seasonal delivery of habitats
  • Regular travel to sites to meet contractors tendering for works
  • Occasional support with events

Your skills

Practical skills and knowledge of land management and farming techniques. We need the successful candidate to be confident to talk to a farmer about the type of machine they are going to use for a job, understand how a hedgerow is planted or fence installed for example.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

A good understanding of ecology and wildlife legislation.

Proficient using MS Office is essential. Proficient at using other electronic tools and aids such as tablets for mapping and remote monitoring equipment is desirable.

You’ll need to hold a full, valid UK driving licence as your role may involve you travelling to various sites across the country. Trailer licence and 4x4 driving experience or qualification desirable.

We have two offices, one in Wimborne, one in Winchester and a satellite office in Ashbourne, Derbyshire. You will be applying to be based out of one of these offices.
