Uttlesford District Council is a small rural district council, based in the market town of Saffron Walden in North Essex, recently voted as the best place to live in the UK. We’re ideally located just off the M11 with easy access to London and Cambridge and an international airport on our doorstep. Uttlesford borders South Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire.

The postholder will implement Uttlesford’s Climate Change Action Plan and deliver a range of projects linked to improving air quality in the district. This post is about working passionately and collaboratively as part of a forward thinking and innovative team, to help us achieve our ambitious and challenging targets.

If you are a new or experienced project manager with a keen interest in environmental issues, this could be the perfect job for you.

The postholder will work within a developing team of officers committed to making a difference. The work will be demanding, varied and rewarding. Alongside the Lead Project Officer you will play a key role in the development and delivery of a portfolio of projects and programmes to promote and support an increase in active travel, improve air quality and reduce the Councils carbon footprint. The post holder will be responsible for engaging with businesses and residents, planning events and promoting the work through various media.

We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. They must also possess excellent communication skills due to the level of stakeholder engagement that will be required, namely with senior officers, councillors and local residents and businesses.

To be successful in this role you must also have very good interpersonal and IT skills. You will also have a confident methodical and organised approach to your workload and team resources.

For an informal discussion please contact Vicky Reed 01799 510481.

Closing date for completed applications is Sunday 15 June 2025
Interviews are intended to be held week commencing 23 June 2025

CVs will not be accepted.
