The team
The insight & evaluation team plays a key role in developing the data, research, and content produced by Energy Saving Trust- both for individual customers and for wider audiences, such as through our website. The team’s work is hugely varied, ranging from calculating the savings achievable through energy efficiency improvements, modelling the impact of new technologies, and advising organisations on their decarbonisation strategies, to providing content for energy efficiency training, researching consumer attitudes towards government policy, and assessing the impact of programmes.
The team works individually on projects but also collaborates closely, both within the team and across other teams at Energy Saving Trust. We regularly share ideas and work through complex problems or scenarios together, with a strong focus on knowledge sharing and development. We also frequently partner with organisations that share similar aims, delivering joint projects that amplify our impact.

The role
As a consultant, you will support the development and delivery of data analysis and consultancy projects on a wide range of energy topics for both internal teams and external clients. You will manage and contribute to projects for clients, including central government, local authorities, energy suppliers, and other organisations. Success in this role means delivering impactful research and analysis, contributing to our mission of addressing the climate emergency, and supporting people and communities.
What you’ll do
- Manage and contribute to the delivery of consultancy projects.
- Support innovative energy consultancy projects through high-quality research and data analysis.
- Continuously review and improve methodologies, assumptions, and models related to energy saving and cost data.
- Collaborate with team members to interpret problems and develop effective solutions.
- Develop expertise in energy efficiency, renewable energy, electric vehicles, and water efficiency sectors.
- Manage projects throughout their lifecycle, liaising with clients and providing regular updates.
What you’ll bring
- Relevant analytical and/or subject matter knowledge in areas such as Engineering, Sciences or Maths, gained through work experience, study, or other learning. A degree is not essential.
- Experience with programming languages (R and/or Python preferred).
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Understanding of domestic low carbon and energy efficiency measures.
- High level of numeracy and experience in data manipulation and statistical analysis.
- Ability to prioritise a busy work schedule and work well both independently and as part of a team.
