Programme Manager - Red Squirrel Recovery Network
Northumberland Wildlife Trust
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Programme Manager to lead the new exciting five-year National Lottery Heritage Funded Red Squirrel Recovery Network (RSRN) Programme.
You will be responsible for co-ordinating a multi-partner initiative across northern England and southern Scotland. You will oversee delivery of the programme’s strategic goals, ensuring red squirrel conservation is embedded within a broader nature recovery vision. This role involves managing a cross-organisational team, overseeing a £1 million annual budget, and coordinating contracts with key research partners.
You will work closely with advisory groups, volunteers, and stakeholders to ensure evidence-based ecological practices are implemented, while also supporting public engagement, delivering a small grants programme, and leading high-impact communications.
Additionally, you will advocate for red squirrel conservation at national forums, manage funding relationships, and shape the long-term strategy for the species’ recovery beyond 2030. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting difference for one of the UK’s most iconic native species.
The role is full time, 35 hours per week on a 5 year contract.
The deadline for applications is 9.00am on Tuesday 27th May 2025. An application form and full job pack can be found on our website. Please note CV’s will not be accepted.
