Main purpose of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the ecobirmingham team in delivering their mission across the city. As a charity dedicated to inspiring sustainable living in Birmingham, we are seeking an energy advisor to support our projects. The primary aim of this role is to provide advice and guidance that helps residents stay warm and comfortable at home, save money, improve health, and reduce carbon emissions.
Terms and Conditions
This is a fixed term/part time post for 12 months.
The post is for 22.5 hours per week. Some flexibility may be required for evening work and the occasional weekend.
Pay: £27,675 pro rata depending on experience.
You will be entitled to 29 days (inc. bank holidays) annual leave pro-rata.
This role is remote working; you will be required to work across the city in various community
settings.
Reports to: Energy Project Coordinator
Main purpose of job: We are looking for a motivated individual to deliver and develop our energy projects across the city over the next twelve months. The project aims to support people to:
- Be warmer and more comfortable at home
- Save money
- Improve health
- Reduce carbon emissions
Key Responsibilities: The main duties will involve:
Providing domestic energy advice to individuals
- Providing in depth energy advice to individuals and households.
- Developing and running energy cafes across the city for drop in advice and light touch intervention.
- Delivering themed online energy workshop sessions offering advice and guidance.
- Supporting communities with energy saving advice for homes online, via telephone or face to face.
Managing ecobirmingham energy projects
- Working as part of a consortium and attending regular consortium meetings.
- Assisting with administrative functions, monitoring, documenting, and telling the story of the impact of our energy projects.
- Identifying other funding and impact opportunities to develop ecobirmingham’s energy advice activities
In addition, there will be opportunities to support the existing team in their delivery of other sustainability advice services and incorporating energy advice within them.
Experience and Qualities needed:
Essential
- Experience of working in energy advice, welfare benefits advice, fuel poverty and/or debt advice.
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Experience of engaging with diverse communities
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the evolving needs of the project.
- Level 2 Energy Advice Qualification or equivalent
- Good level of numeracy and literacy and IT skills.
- Must have own transport (mileage allowance will be reimbursed)
Desirable:
- Level 3 Energy Awareness qualification or equivalent
- Speaks community languages
- Experience in other sustainability advice services such as food, waste, and travel.
