Outdoor Health Engagement Officer

Salary: £27,818 pro rata
Contract: Fixed term until March 2028, 3.5 days per week.
Based at: Machynlleth, Powys (Bro Ddyfi Community Hospital and the Forestry Hub, Coed Lleol – Smallwoods Office)

Do you work in the health/social care sector? Are you interested in nature and the outdoors, and the benefits to health and wellbeing? Do you want a role that is creative, people orientated and on the cutting edge of social prescribing in Wales? We are looking for someone to be the link, the first port of call for people to access the outdoors, working directly with other health care providers for a preventative approach to health and wellbeing.

The Outdoor Health Engagement Officer role will be to deliver as part of a team ‘Awyr Iach’, a three-year project serving the community of the Bro Ddyfi Community Hospital catchment and wider UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere Reserve. The project is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and managed by Coed Lleol – Smallwoods (CL-SW), in collaboration of a wide variety of local community stakeholders.

Rôl y Swyddog Ymgysylltu Iechyd Awyr Agored fydd cyflawni’r prosiect ‘Awyr Iach’ fel rhan o dîm. Dyma brosiect tair blynedd sy’n gwasanaethu cymuned dalgylch Ysbyty Cymunedol Bro Ddyfi a Gwarchodfa Biosffer Dyfi ehangach UNESCO. Ariennir y prosiect gan Gronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol a’i reoli gan Coed Lleol – Smallwoods (CL-SW), mewn cydweithrediad ag amrywiaeth eang o randdeiliaid cymunedol lleol.

Coed Lleol (Small Woods Wales) is the name for the Small Woods Association in Wales. We help to improve the health and wellbeing of people across Wales though woodland and nature based activities. We work to provide healthy sustainable woodlands that benefit their owners, the environment and wider society, decrease social isolation, improve the mental health of our project participants, encourage our participants to get active outdoors, help our participants discover new skills and interests and provide supportive and fun environments for our project participants.
