The role

The Environmental Specialist will ensure that airport development and operation is conducted in accordance with environmental legal requirements, best practice principles and MAG corporate policy. The role will act as the custodian of the Environmental Management system and will hold internal departments, 3rd parties and contractors operating at the airport to account for their environmental impact and performance.

In this role you will ensure implementation of standards for legal compliance, pollution prevention and environmental performance across the airport, and support on environmental engagement with the airport community, including designing effective methods for communicating and engaging with stakeholders.

You will also support and help drive the re-certification to ISO 14001 ensuring that the Environment Management System is updated and that non-conformities are addressed in an appropriate manner. You will have responsibility for producing environmental presentations and briefing notes to relevant stakeholders.

You will also be responsible for sharing best practice across the Group and there will be an element of travel between our 3 Airports as and when required.

What will make you successful in the role?

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role is required, and it would be desirable for you to have aviation experience.
  • You will have membership of an appropriate environmental professional body, such as IEMA.
  • A passion for environmental issues and championing innovation and continuous improvement in environmental practices is key for this role.
  • You will have working knowledge of environmental legal requirements and pollution prevention measures, in addition to working with Environmental Management Systems and ISO Standards.
  • You will be a confident communicator, with the ability to influence stakeholders, and work collaboratively with various departments across the business.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills are also ideal to be successful in this role.
