Community Engagement Coordinator
Dundee Changemakers Hub
Responsible to: Changemakers Hub Manager
Fixed term role: May – end March 2026 (may be extended, funding dependent)
Salary: £18,700 (£31,166 pro rata)
Payroll: PAYE although flexible to consider self-employment
Hours of work: 22.5 hours/3 days per week, flexible to suit applicant and project, will include
occasional evenings/weekends
Holiday Entitlement: 18 days per year (30 pro rata, includes public holidays)
Pension: 8% Employer Contribution (+2% Employee contribution)
Location: Dundee - Hybrid working with regular community-based working
The Dundee Changemakers Hub, anchored by four community organisations and hosted by Transition Dundee, is a collective committed to fostering positive change and climate action in Dundee. Our partners - Transition Dundee, ScrapAntics, Uppertunity, The Maxwell - bring extensive experience in successful climate initiatives with a focus on engagement, diversity, and creativity. Together we envision a sustainable and inclusive future for Dundee, connecting communities, sharing knowledge, and amplifying local voices.
The Hub is part of a national network funded by the Scottish Government’s Climate Action Fund. Climate Action Hubs aim to build local awareness of the climate emergency, develop local plans, help groups take up funding opportunities, and contribute to a Just Transition, which is fair and leaves no one behind. This position is key to nurturing relationships and building collaboration with local changemakers at the organisational/group level, fostering engagement and instilling the Dundee Changemakers ethos and concepts. This is a ‘front facing’ role and would suit someone that knows Dundee and enjoys interacting with a wide variety of people from different walks of life, who is also well organised and team-orientated.
Responsibilities:
Events Programming and Ambassadorship
Workshops and events:
- Organise and coordinate community workshops and events which could include external experts, networking opportunities and skillshares
- Provide opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration within Dundee’s diverse communities
- Foster a sense of collaboration and local ambassadorship through these events and other opportunities
- Deliver and facilitate workshops that explore climate issues creatively
Organisation:
- Coordinate and organise the events plan aligned with the communications plan
- Coordinate process across website, Eventbrite and communications
Representation:
- Be a visible representative for the Hub engaging with third sector, community groups and individuals, promoting Changemakers vision and manifesto
- Encouraging engagement with Changemakers, expanding awareness and reach
- Deliver occasional presentations, where appropriate, to promote Changemakers
Microgrants
- Coordinate the microgrants process including reviewing and assessing applications, arranging payment, liaising with grant-winners and coordinating the reporting and communication process
Communication and Reporting
- Identify and record stories from events and community groups
- Share content and stories through website, newsletter and social media
- Maintain accurate records of interactions and events-related activity, including survey results to help improve future events through lessons learned
- Support the Hub Manager with regular reporting to Scot Gov with progress and outcomes of communications and events
- Liaise with Changemakers partners on specific projects and initiatives
- Play a part in developing the future of the Changemakers programme and team

Person specification
Essential
- Experience or knowledge of community work within Dundee, preferably from a community-based or third sector role -
- Experience of event delivery and facilitation -
- Comfortable with open conversations, exploring topics with people of different opinions whilst respecting everyone's views - I do this all the time.
- Proactive with a willingness to identify and pursue opportunities independently - I do do this already
- Big picture thinker with the ability to join dots across projects at the community and policy level - a natural connector of people and organisations
- Excellent organisational, communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills
- Passion for community building, networking, and social/climate impact
- Able to think on their feet with a versatile approach
- Digitally literate with experience of using a range of digital tools and platforms, such as Google suite, Wix, social media, Canva and Zoom (or equivalent), etc.
Desirable
- Understands Dundee Changemakers ethos and aims
- Experience in a climate change or sustainability role
- Project coordination or administration experience
- Digital communications skills for recording audio and video
- Web design experience
Employment Terms:
Contract: 10 month fixed term employed role ending 31st March 2026 (with the ambition to extend the role subject to funding). All post holders are subject to a probationary period of three months. Employer pension contribution provided (8% employer contribution, 2% employee), annual training and wellbeing allowance for each team member. This role is employed by Transition Dundee and situated within the Changemakers programme.
