South Atlantic Environmental Research Institute (SAERI)

Established in 2012 SAERI is a research institute operating from its main base in Stanley, Falkland Islands. SAERI aims to be a world-class research institute that teaches students and builds capacity within and between the South Atlantic Overseas Territories as well as globally through three Focal Areas.

The broad SAERI mission to “deliver world-class environmental research from the Falkland Islands that informs the effective stewardship of our planet” embraces a wide range of science disciplines, as is reflected in the breadth of our science themes - Ecosystems, Earth Science and Remote sensing and data science.
