South East Rivers Trust

The South East Rivers Trust is an environmental charity dedicated to the conservation and restoration of rivers in the south east of England, including south west London, Kent, Sussex and Surrey.

Our mission is for the rivers in the South East Rivers Trust area to achieve Good Ecological Status or Potential, and the management of their catchments to set international standards for urban and rural community-driven sustainability and environmental excellence in river rehabilitation and restoration.

How will we achieve this?:

Engagement: We want to empower local communities in the South East Rivers Trust area to become involved with their local river, creating a sense of ownership and pride.

Education: We want to educate both children and adults about the value of a healthy river and the threats facing rural and urban river habitats today.

Ecological improvement: We wish to take a scientific and evidence-based approach to the restoration and conservation of rivers, enhancing and maximising river habitats, biodiversity and ecological sustainability.

Partnership: We want to work with all organisations and stakeholders with the potential to influence the health of rivers across the South East Rivers Trust area, and collaborate closely to achieve our common goals.

We are a member of the Rivers Trusts (formerly the Association of Rivers Trusts) – a national movement to protect rivers across the UK and share best practice in their conservation and restoration.
