Course: Developing Volunteer Leadership Skills (Online)

Our online Developing Volunteer Leadership Skills course is ideal for those looking to enhance their leadership qualities in a practical volunteer setting. Whatever your aspirations or experience, these two interactive sessions will develop your skills, knowledge and confidence to plan and deliver successful volunteering activities.
Who is this course for?
This course will benefit anyone who works with volunteers. Perhaps you are a new volunteer
coordinator within an organisation, or an experienced volunteer looking to take on a volunteer
leadership role? This course would also be valuable for those planning to set up a new
volunteer group or those hoping to maximise the impact and effectiveness of their existing
volunteer teams.
What does this course cover?
Over two online sessions you will cover essential topics
including:
- Recognising and developing the positive leadership behaviours that drives a group forward
- How to motivate volunteer team members and create an inclusive environment
- How to give constructive and timely feedback
- Understanding risk management and the essential health and safety requirements to organise and deliver a safe task day
- How to maintain best practice and evaluate your own performance as a task leader
Course Dates:
Session 1: Monday 15th September 2025 - 9:30am - 12:30pm
Session 2: Monday 22nd September 2025 - 9:30am - 12:30pm
Note: The course price includes 2 sessions, both of which you should attend to cover all course content.
About your tutor:
This course will be delivered by Simon Lowe (Training Officer at Derbyshire Wildlife Trust). He has over twenty years of experience planning and leading work parties and managing volunteers in the environmental conservation sector alongside delivering practical and theoretical training in a broad range of traditional habitat management skills.
