Course: Wildflower ID
TCV Scotland
This workshop delivered by Faith Anstey will give you the confidence to use field guides to recognise different plant families. It is suitable for anyone who can tell a buttercup from a daisy. After being introduced to some basic terms and concepts, participants will be shown how they can place a given plant into its correct family. Only then will they try to identify it as a particular species.
You will be given advice on how to choose and use a field guide, and how to follow simple keys. All the work will be hands-on, with fresh material indoors and growing plants outdoors, throughout the day.
Participants will receive a copy of Faith's Wildflower Families guide book (rrp £6.99) which they can take home with them.
Instructor - Faith Anstey has been running workshops for the BSBI for seven years in plant ID for beginners and improvers. In connection with these, she has produced several small books on plant families, grasses, sedges etc. These can be used with the appropriate field guide to make the identification of common species quicker and easier than by traditional methods.
Venue - TCV Office at Jupiter Wildlife Centre, Wood Street, Grangemouth, FK3 8LH.
Experience Level - No experience required.
