Surrey Docks Farm is a community farm in the heart of London. We provide our visitors with unique opportunities to learn about farming, food production, wildlife and horticulture by becoming actively involved. We run a range of informal education activities for children and young people at the Farm. Volunteers working with these projects assist the team preparing activities, supporting young people, getting hands on and creating fun, interesting and educational sessions. Experience with animals, gardening and crafts is useful, but FAR more important is a person who is enthusiastic, patient and supportive to our young people.

In return we will give you valuable experience working with young people, ideal for those wanting to work in environmental education, youth work and/or to go into teaching.

We have vacancies for Youth Volunteers to assist with our Farm Club on Thursdays and Fridays in the school holidays (October Half Term, February Half Term, Easter Holidays and Summer break).

In the Farm Club, children aged 8 - 13 experience a day in the life of a Farmer, mucking out and caring for the animals, maintaining a vegetable plot, learning about conservation as well as taking part in cooking, games and craft activities.

Farm Club is an income generating project embedded within our youth programme, bringing in essential income to cover the Farm’s running costs and ensuring that children who need to can come to the Farm for free each week through our Young Farmers programme.

If you're interested in volunteering with our Farm Club in the school holidays, details can be found on our website where you can get in touch by completing our volunteer enquiry form. One of our team will then arrange an informal tour of the Farm so you can find out more about our youth programmes. All volunteers undergo a full DBS check, provide two references and attend an induction with safeguarding protocol prior to starting.

Thank you for your interest and good luck with your application. We hope to meet you soon.
