Surrey Docks Farm is a community farm in the heart of London. We provide our visitors with
unique opportunities to learn about farming, food production, wildlife and horticulture by
becoming actively involved.
We run a range of informal education activities for children and young people at the Farm. Volunteers working with these projects assist the team preparing activities, supporting young people, getting hands on and creating fun, interesting and educational sessions. Experience with animals, gardening and crafts is useful, but FAR more important is a person who is enthusiastic, patient and supportive to our young people.
In return we will give you valuable experience working with young people ideal for those wanting to work in environmental education, youth work and/or to go into teaching.
We currently have a vacancy for a Youth Volunteer to assist with our weekly Young Farmers Club each Saturday from 9.45am - 4.45pm.
Young Farmers is a free weekly club for local children to get involved with all aspects of a working farm and environmental conservation projects. Club members (aged 8-13) help with mucking out and caring for animals, maintain their own vegetable plot, learn about conservation as well as cooking and craft activities.
If you're interested in volunteering with us, full details can be found on our website where you can get in touch by
completing our volunteer enquiry
form. One of our team will then arrange an informal tour of the Farm so you
can find out more about our youth programmes. All volunteers undergo a full DBS check, provide two references and attend an induction with safeguarding protocol prior to starting.
Thank you for your interest and good luck with your application. We hope to meet you soon.
