Closing date: Thursday, 1st September 2022

Do you want to gain some experience as a fundraiser? This is your chance to work with a new charity and help us to raise much-needed funds as well as expanding your own skillset in the fundraising sphere.

Flight Free UK is a behaviour change organisation that asks people to take a flight free year to reduce emissions and create a social shift away from flying as the default. We were set up in 2019 and since then have inspired thousands of people to change the way they travel. We have just been granted charitable status.

As our fundraising intern, we would like you to:

  • Help to organise our annual fundraising month which runs throughout September, culminating in a fab comedy night
  • Work to increase the number of monthly donations we receive from our supporters. We have only just set up a monthly donation option, so we want to make sure more of our supporters know about it, and encourage at least 50 people to sign up
  • Research and apply for a couple of starter grants from trusts/foundations

The successful candidate will be:

  • Well-organised and astute
  • Personable, friendly and passionate about the cause
  • Motivated and capable of self-directed work

This is a flexible, remote-working role for around 10 hours per week. You must have access to a laptop and the internet and some understanding of fundraising from individuals and/or organisations. Full supervision is provided by the campaign director.

Please note this is a volunteer role. We think this is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to move into the charity/fundraising sector and would like to get some experience (and who knows, if you are successful in helping us raise the funds we might be in the position to employ you later!)

To apply, please send your CV and a cover letter to the director, Anna Hughes, at [email protected]. Please explain how your skills and past experience are suited to the role, and why you want to work with Flight Free UK. Please be specific about our campaign, rather than general environmental campaigning. And we’d love it if you’ve signed the flight free pledge!
