Want to join our team and help British Wildlife?

Secret World Wildlife Rescue is a registered charity that rescues, rehabilitates and releases Britain’s orphaned, injured and sick wildlife from 8am to 10pm, 365 days a year! From feeding baby birds and young hedgehogs in the Hospital rooms to helping keep our orphan fox cubs pens and owl aviaries clean and tidy there is always lots to do!

We are looking for Volunteer Wildlife care Assistants to help our Animal care staff with caring for the wildlife casualties in our care.  This volunteering role can be quite physically and mentally demanding, particularly during our busy summer season, and tasks include:

  • The handling and capture of animals for assessment and transport
  • Cleaning enclosures to a good hygienic standard
  • Preparation and delivery of food and water
  • Providing enrichment
  • Monitoring the condition and behaviour of the animals

Please note our policy on working with wildlife across all of our animal care sections is a hands-off approach. Wildlife can find our presence very stressful so we keep our interactions (talking, handling etc.) to an absolute minimum and animals are only handled for the purposes of weighing, moving or for staff to assess and provide medication for the animal.

Volunteering can be organised as a regular weekly shift or as a ‘block’ placement, you can check out our volunteering page via the apply button below, or email [email protected] for more details.
