Why We Want You:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Residential Volunteer to undertake a Visitor Experience role based at RSPB Arne reserve near Wareham in Dorset.

We would like you to assist with the day-to-day running of the visitor operation at our 9 Dorset reserves which include Arne and Radipole Lake. You will help connect our visitors with the amazing wildlife found on our reserves and take on projects you will lead yourself to ensure the public have a great experience with the RSPB. You will be involved in events and activities, visitor welcome, social media and publicity.

You will become a flexible and valued member of our Dorset team working on a number of sites with a number of different team members with the chance to work on varied projects.

As a residential volunteer you will live at the beautiful Arne reserve alongside our two residential volunteer wardens in a purpose built chalet. You'll gain valuable work experience, develop new skills and learn how one of Europe's largest conservation charities is run. You'll also get:

  • Specialist experience of delivering visitor services on a nature reserve
  • Appropriate training such as membership recruitment, media and campaign skills

  • A dedicated mentor will monitor your progress and help with personal development throughout your placement.

Requirements:

You need to be over 18 years old and have:

  • Excellent people and communication skills
  • Approachable personality
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on your own
  • Enthusiasm for wildlife & conservation (specialist knowledge not required)
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office
