Background

The Alderney Wildlife Trust (AWT) promotes the study and conservation of Alderney’s terrestrial and marine wildlife and associated habitats. The AWT manages several terrestrial reserves totalling over 100ha, a Ramsar site, over 20km of footpaths, along with a handful of smaller sites. It undertakes numerous annual surveys and other wildlife recording.

Alderney is part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey. Currently the Bailiwick Covid-19 Bubble enables those who have undergone quarantine (varying on the location from which they travel), to enter the bubble, which at the time of writing enables unrestricted travel and socialisation within the islands. More details on the current situation can be found here and please do not hesitate to contact the Trust for more information on how this situation works in practice.

This post is a focused work placement where you will be expected to take on significant levels of responsibility including a program of surveys and helping to develop the islands ecological recording system (Alderney Biodiversity Record Centre).
