About the role

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust wants to build a diverse and inclusive Board that reflects the membership and communities that we serve. So if you are over 18, and would like to use your skills and experience at Board level to help us help wildlife, then we would love to hear from you.

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is a charity working to protect and restore wildlife in Yorkshire. We want to enable wildlife to recover on land and sea, with more wildlife, more wild places and more people having a strong connection to nature. We work with schools and communities, landowners and volunteers, people of all ages and backgrounds - to develop wildlife-rich places and wildlife-rich lives. We create, connect and care for places rich in wildlife, champion the value of nature, and inspire people and communities to care for wildlife. The Trust has over 44,000 members, manages over 100 nature reserves and advocate for nature across all of Yorkshire.

The only requirements for applicants are enthusiasm and commitment to work with a team of others for the benefit of the Trust and its objectives. To help us develop a Board with diverse and relevant experiences and skill sets we would particularly welcome:

  • People with experience in professional sectors to support the Trust’s governance, and who may be interested in holding roles such as Secretary, Treasurer or Chair in future.
  • People from all backgrounds and with experience with or within Yorkshire’s diverse communities who are interested in helping connecting community activities and caring for nature.
  • People who have expertise and/or experience in managing the environment and improving outcomes for wildlife.
  • People who have experience of natural resource dependant sectors of the economy who would like to see better outcomes for wildlife.

You all share our vision of nature-rich places that benefit everyone and would be willing to work with us to help make this a reality.

As a member of our Board of Trustees you will be part of the strategic leadership of the Trust, helping us achieve our vision of a Yorkshire rich in wildlife for the benefit of everyone and ensuring that the Trust fulfils its charitable purpose, mission and values.
