Sectors: marine conservation, environmental education

Closing date: Thursday, 30th July 2020

We aim to bring together the professional marine community and communities along the English Coast. We want to do this by having a host of marine scientists and professionals walk stretches of the English Coastal Path and give talks in the villages, towns and cities they pass through. The idea is that by the end of 2021 the entirety of the ECP will have been walked by the marine community, with talks delivered in more than 180 locations. This will be achieved by assigning interested individuals to the stretches they want to walk and mapping our endeavours on an interactive map. Apart from giving talks, participants can also blog about their walks, sharing pictures and impressions and thus introducing the English Coast, its beauty and the challenges it faces, to a wider digital public.

You will develop and maintain the interactive map and corresponding app. The map is a key part of the project and will require maintenance throughout the lifetime of the project.

Requirements: You have experience creating interactive maps in GIS or similar and in creating simple apps. However, this does not have to be professional experience. You are passionate about maps and the possibilities they offer for science communication. You have a keen eye for design and great attention to detail.

Please apply through our webpage where you will also find a link to a document describing the map and app we have in mind in greater detail..
