Volunteer with the Bat Conservation Trust this summer!

Every year the National Bat Helpline receives thousands of calls from members of the public who have found injured and grounded bats. We are fast approaching the time of year when bats become more active and our Helpline becomes very busy. To help with this vital service, on evenings and weekends, the Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) organise an Out of Hours (OOH) Helpline from May to September.

During this time, dedicated and passionate volunteers answer emergency calls from the public and put them in touch with local bat care volunteers. Volunteers are provided with full training on their role and must attend a training day in March or April. Volunteers typically assist with a few ‘bat watches’ a month (depending on their availability) and receive full support from BCT staff throughout the project. Volunteers will need to use a computer with internet access and a phone with reliable reception on every Bat Watch and should be comfortable using IT and the internet.
