Flight Free UK is a volunteer-led organisation, looking for our next group of interns to help spread our campaign. Suitable for those interested in sustainability issues and environmental campaigning, seeking to gain more experience in the sector.

Flight Free UK is a grassroots campaign asking 100,000 people to pledge not to fly this year. We have gained more than 5000 pledges and are attracting a large amount of press interest, with regular interviews. The aim of the campaign is to reach 100,000 people before the end of the year through online campaigning and regional events around the UK.

The campaign team includes the Director (Anna) and a small team of volunteer interns. The campaign is currently unfunded.

The internship is flexible but we ask for at least ten hours per week, for a period of at least one month. Longer term internships are preferable.

The following roles are available:

  • Blog – generating and editing blog content. Must have a high standard of written English. This is a creative role.
  • Area coordinator – taking an organisational role in your area. This would involved connecting with local groups online and in person, finding local festivals/conferences/events at which Flight Free could have a presence, and doing on-street campaigning
  • Admin – emailing people who might want to hear about the pledge e.g. local green groups
  • Social media – managing our Twitter and Instagram accounts
  • Press – contacting relevant press agencies about the campaign
