Wild Exmouth Volunteer Ranger
Place: Exmouth

About the role:

Volunteer Rangers are involved with co-ordinating and supervising practical projects. This can include working with schools, colleges and community groups as well as regular volunteers and work experience individuals.

You will support the delivery of a wide of practical work which can include such tasks as tree and hedgerow planting, woodland management and invasive species control as well as small construction projects such as hand rails and footpaths.

The Volunteer Ranger will develop practical skills and a knowledge base that can be transferred to other professions as well as formal in-house and external training courses in variety of subjects and competencies.

These can include first aid & H&S, leadership, safeguarding and machinery operation. They will experience all aspects of planning and co-ordinating practical tasks alongside groups of volunteers in many different locations across Exmouth.

About you: 

Volunteer Rangers are expected to:

  • have a friendly and approachable personality,
  • be willing to help and assist volunteers with practical tasks
  • be willing to get stuck in with the practical work
  • have some basic I.T. / admin skills.

Experience with practical work of this nature would be useful, but not essential.

A full and clean driving license is also a benefit as driving to/from site may be required.

You will need a good working knowledge of Exmouth.

Time commitment: 

min. 3 days a month, (Mon- Fri.) - general hours (10.00 -16.00)

Volunteer work parties are held on alternate Thursdays, so these will be core days for the role.

Further information:

You will be supported in your role by experienced staff through regular meetings where issues can be resolved and guidance provided. You will be insured and expected to comply with the policies and procedures of East Devon District Council.

Where roles will be responsible for others, we need to check your references. We will need to ask for a Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.
