Sectors: environmental education, sustainability

Closing date: Monday, 13th April 2020

Green & Away is, for the first time, offering a role of Scientist in Residence for our summer season. This is an opportunity for a scientist in any discipline to research and demonstrate work at our outdoor environmental venue. We are open to approaches from scientists young or experienced from any background – chemistry, physics, biology, ecology, economics, anthropology, astronomy, psychology, sociology etc.

The residency can be used for research or to demonstrate a theory, and the successful applicant will need to show their work, methodology and results as part of Green & Away’s ongoing education. S/he will have access to the Green & Away tented village, the 200 acre farm, the river and lakes in conjunctions with our volunteer team.

Artist and Scientist in residence roles will begin mid-June and end in mid-August.

Green & Away takes place outdoors and under canvas. You will need your own tent, however, we may be able to arrange one for you if you are unable to bring one and you let us know in advance. Full board is provided (3 vegetarian meals a day and regular tea breaks with cake!). The site has hot showers, clothes washing facilities and composting toilets.

A licensed bar, comfortable sitting areas and arts and crafts facilities come as and when we have built them. There is WiFi and phone/laptop charging facilities. Please note, when you first arrive the field will be almost empty (although our toilets and showers will be operating), so please be prepared for this.
