Sectors: carbon, climate & energy, sustainability

Closing date: Thursday, 2nd January 2020

The aim of the role is to have a tangible impact on local people's lives by reducing fuel poverty. This is achieved by advising them in an informed and personable manner to help them make a positive change.

The main duties for this role will involve:

  • Taking part and eventually leading Energy Cafés in community venues to make an impact in the local communities in South West London.
  • This will focus on engaging with local people to discuss their utility bills and how much they are paying for their energy.
  • The volunteer will then work the individual to understand the best way to help them, whether by changing energy supplier, putting them in touch with an organisation that can write off some of their debt or improving energy efficiency in their home.
  • Some energy cafes will take place during normal working hours during the week and applicants will be expected to volunteer at these times

  • Volunteers must be available for 2 days of training

What you will gain from this

By volunteering with us not only you will help to reduce fuel poverty in some of the most deprived areas in London. Volunteers will be trained in the best way to assist local people in meeting these aims. As a result, they will develop their knowledge base on this important subject and you will gain new and employable skills supported by an AQA accredited qualification.
