Want to do something hands-on and based predominantly outdoors? Want to support a great environmental project at the same time as getting some fantastic skills to improve your CV? Join the Wild Exmouth team.

We want your help to support the Wild Exmouth project in the preparation and delivery of community projects and activities including consultation and community engagement events.

Key roles and responsibilities:

Support our Exmouth-wide programme of activities to engage individuals, children and families in finding out about and developing the wilder side of the town.

You will :

  • Support staff to plan and deliver work with community groups around environmental projects and activity in Exmouth. Encouraging young people to look after their local area. Support the delivery of practical projects at outdoor venues.
  • Liaise with partner organisations, community groups and individuals involved in our projects. To help develop, review and monitor projects. Support with events, fairs, festivals, volunteering events and other activities which bring together different sectors of the community.
  • Help with publicising and coordinating community events and activities.

Benefits to you:

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wishing to gain the experience vital to working in engagement for the environmental or community sector.

References for future jobs can be requested.

Full support and mentoring is provided by the Wild Exmouth Ranger.

There is scope for you to tailor the role to your requirements – you can even get involved in session planning, risk assessments, and leading a session if you would like to, but this is not essential.

What you need:

Essential to this role are excellent communication / people skills and an enthusiasm for the outdoors and the environment. If you have an interest in gaining conservation skills and learning about community engagement this role is for you.

This position will require a full DBS Clearance (formerly CRB) if your role involves working with children and vulnerable adults, which we can provide.

Day(s) and times are negotiable. Events are often delivered during school holidays and occasionally on weekends.

Please contact the Wild Exmouth Ranger, Debs Rylands, to discuss this role or other ways of getting involved with Wild Exmouth.
