We're looking for two Conservation Skills Trainee volunteers at Dean Castle Country Park. This fantastic role is for 1 day a week (Mon-Thurs, day to be determined by trainee availability) assisting in hedge-laying, coppicing, pathwork, fencing, boardwalks and other conservation tasks. The role is for 8 months to gain a breadth of experience and training across a range of seasonal conservation skills.

This role offers an excellent training package with external trainers for a number of skills. In addition, there will be internal training in hedge-laying, coppicing and community engagement skills. There will also be the chance to lead volunteers and community groups in conservation tasks.

The position is ideal for someone looking to get into the countryside sector. We’re looking for someone who is happy being outdoors in any weather, working practically and has strong leadership skills. It’s important that you’re good at motivating people and working with a range of different people.

For this role, we need someone who:

  • is 18 years old or over
  • is available 1 day - occasionally 2 for training - a week (Monday-Thursday)
  • has some experience of practical conservation

It is beneficial if you have or are working towards a qualification in a related field.
