Friends of the Earth Cymru is looking for 2 keen and enthusiastic volunteers to help work on our new climate change campaign and our existing divestment campaign.

Who are we?

Friends of the Earth Cymru is part of the world’s largest environmental grass roots organisation with member groups in countries all around the world. We seek solutions at local and national levels to environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, plastics, biodiversity and habitat loss and environmental justice.

What are the opportunities?

Climate Change Campaign Assistant

Climate change is the challenge of our age and we need to do everything we can, whether at a personal, community or political level. Our new climate campaign will be an exciting challenge for us all and we are seeking a volunteer to work on it as a campaign assistant, provide research help, organise events, network with other organisations and community groups and write content for a variety of different audiences through channels such as social media, websites and traditional print.

Divestment Campaign Assistant

One thing that public bodies such as Local Authorities and the Assembly can do on climate change is to remove any investments (such as Pensions) from fossil fuel companies (divestment). We are making progress in Wales and would like to offer a volunteer opportunity within this fast-moving campaign, providing research and campaign help, networking with other organisations and individuals and helping lobby elected politicians.

Both of these opportunities would suit someone able to work on their own initiative and who has a keen interest in environmental and climate change issues. The work is flexible and is a good opportunity to learn more about the issues, get involved in exciting campaigns, meet like-minded people and gain experience of networking, publicity, event organisation, lobbying and campaigning.

Friends of the Earth Cymru can offer volunteers:

  • Volunteer induction.
  • Ongoing staff and peer to peer support
  • The opportunity to learn more about climate change and other environmental issues
  • Access to free training and the opportunity to network with other organisations in Wales.
  • Reimbursement of lunch and travel expenses.
  • References for future employment.

And most importantly, the chance to volunteer in a fun, engaging and friendly environment.

Please email Bleddyn Lake ( bleddyn.lake@foe.co.uk ) if you are interested in volunteering.
